Get to know what sets the Kosi series apart
Our engineering and design teams have been working hard to create a quality and innovative wood heater which focuses on warmth, usability, safety and sustainability. Some of our key features which set the Kosi No.25 and Kosi No.35 apart are explained below.
External Room Air
Our Kosi No.25 and Kosi No.35 wood heaters are built standard with outside air intake. This innovative feature means the wood heater draws air directly from outside and doesn’t use indoor air for combustion; resulting in fewer drafts, less stuffiness and helps to maintain a more consistent indoor temperature.
Moving forward, Australian building standards are changing to reflect the nations desire for more energy efficient homes, this includes improving thermal performance so homes needs less energy to heat and cool. In some areas, building codes and regulations may require external air intake for combustion appliances, including wood heaters. Professional installation of a Kosi wood heater, with a room sealed flue kit, ensures your compliance with the minimum 7 star national building standards.
Dual Port Stainless Steel Baffle
In-line with our business ethos of sustainability and efficiency, innovative technology has been engineered into the Kosi firebox with a dual port, hollow stainless steel baffle plate. This unique baffle plate utilises secondary combustion, and advance dual port hollow baffle technology, to hyper heat air in the combustion chamber which ignites unburned gases and particles that would otherwise contribute to emissions. This symbiotic technology delivers outstanding performance to reduce the emissions footprint of the Kosi wood heater.
The efficient combustion facilitated by the dual port design and stainless steel baffle also allows for more efficient combustion by maximizing airflow and heat distribution within the wood heater, as well as extending burn times between refueling. Extending your burn time means less frequent reloading of wood, providing convenience and reducing the need for constant monitoring of the heater.
Removable Ash Draw & Dual Ash Chutes
Removing ash from your firebox has never been easier or cleaner! The Kosi range comes with a custom fitted ash draw which collects ash from the dual chutes within the fire box. Using the custom tool, which stores easily away within your ash draw door, simply lift off the dual vermiculite lined ash ports before sweeping the ash down the chute. Once the ash is has fallen into the draw you can easily remove it from the wood heater and close the lid, stopping ash particles contaminating air in your home, and dispose of the ash.
Making the removal of ash from the firebox less of a chore, may mean you might find yourself keeping the firebox ash free more often. Benefits of a clean firebox include improved air flow and increased heat transfer; resulting in improved heat output and wood efficiency. A clean firebox also improves safety as there is less chance of hot embers falling out, and a reduced risk of creosote build-up.
3 Speed Fan with RF Remote
Convection heating means the radiant heat created by the wood heater is then fan forced to circulate the warm air around your home. Convention heating provides more efficient and even heating compared to traditional wood fires, ensuring better warmth distribution and comfort.
The Kosi range wood heaters have a 3 speed fan setting which allows you to adjust the intensity of the airflow according your heating needs; providing flexibility and control over the heating process. The fan controls can be operated by the discrete temporarily illuminating buttons on the side of the wood heater or via RF remote. Using Radio Frequency (RF) technology, our fan control remote can adjust settings, or turn the fan on/off, from anywhere in your room.
Vermiculite Firebox Liners
Keeping the inside of the firebox as hot as possible during combustion is essential to high heating capacity, more complete combustion of wood (resulting in lower emission of pollutants) and reduced fuel consumption. This is why in line with our values of sustainability and efficiency, the Kosi No.25 and Kosi No.35 are fitted with high density, moulded interlocking vermiculite liners.
Our Metters branded vermiculite liners are custom shaped to integrate and seamlessly hold their position within the firebox. The benefits of these tightly fitted liners include enhanced heat distribution throughout the firebox, preventing hot spots and ensuring uniform heating.
As vermiculite is naturally fire-resistant material, it can withstand high temperatures without degrading – meaning it is less prone to cracking, resists soot and creosote build-up and does not release harmful gases into the firebox; ensuring long-term performance and enhanced safety.
More than a heating solution, the Kosi series serves as a captivating centrepiece, effortlessly transforming your home into a haven of comfort and style, while staying true to the timeless legacy of Metters.
